“The potential of color, form, and space investigates a particular vocabulary that vibrates to a rhythm
of life itself.”

— HANS HOFFMAN

Paintings

My paintings lay bare the breadth and depth of human emotion, sometimes thunderous and sometimes subtle. Applications of paint, brush and line create two and three dimensional depictions of my soul responding to nature. A tension is created between the quiet, close up drawings and the bold abstract forms that float in and out of a single space, resulting in an expressive yet precarious balance.

Monoprints

Ink on paper is a visceral mystery to me. The drawing, washing away, then adding to a surface plate to create a “ground” is very satisfying.
Unique forms take shape from spontaneous acts of drawing and painting, documenting a moment in time. Each piece is a single unique production: the Monoprint.

Mixed Media

I am drawn to textural composition with a vibrant areas in layered arrays. The play of collaged elements, paint, and illustration creates a language of visual representation. Using various collected bits, the surface is defined but also disturbed. The images become a place to visit as history reconstructed.

Sometimes the well is dry; other times it floods. Either way, the aim is to keep it flowing. At Pumphouse Studios, Christina Spann taps a deep reservoir of creative expression, or distills an overflow to its pure essence. Grab hold of her. She's primed.
